Congratulations on your first year on earth, little baby ella. It's a big deal completing it but you've done a marvelous job. Each following year will fly by in quicker and quicker succession, and you'll grow bigger and bigger with each one leaving your lovely mother to think 'where has the time gone?' but perhaps these images will cherish this first year in a special way for both of you in those years to come.
Sarina of Red Anchor Photo and I met just after moving to Los Angeles - she from NYC - and it's been so good to know another recent transplant diving into the photo industry out here. And both being in need of some West Coast portraits to update our website, we met up at the end of the year to chase some lovely light around town. It's one of my least favorite places to be, in front of the camera. But what a good practice to be reminded of how important it is to make folks feel at ease and slowly whittle them out of their shell. Sarina was a pro at giving direction (no surprise,) and the morning was lovely - not to mention we found some killer walls. Here are some of my favorites images of this cool cat.
henry+george. I feel like there should be a wonderful children's book written about these two giggly boys with a deep love for trains and rabbits. for jumping and tickling and a tiny bit of snuggling. and biscuits, too. not my southern biscuits but delicious cookie cracker biscuits because mom and dad are from england and so even their gentle corrections sound pleasant and lovely. and I say snuggle that rabbit all you want because one day you'll be all grown up and you'll might forget how much you loved that furry friend or the way the sunlight shown on your mother's hair as she breathed you in, soaked up every inch of you.
