http://vimeo.com/35405239 I woke up last night with an ache in my lower back and grumblings in my tummy. The clock said 3:30; I glanced toward Ben over the body pillow that now separates us in bed, he was fast asleep. The usual stretching, repositioning, rolling over that used to cure my mid-night ailments are harder to accomplish now with a basketball-sized protrusion coming from my midsection. I gave in, got up, poured myself a bowl of cereal and settled into a chair with my newest book : Operating Instructions by Anne Lamott. Her opening line speaks of being wide awake at 4am, she is 6 months pregnant and can't get comfortable. I welcomed the empathy and baby and I enjoyed our cereal.
There are moments that I find myself rubbing my growing belly like this is the way it has always been; other times I walk by a reflective surface and almost surprise myself "How did that happen?!" Our excitement is growing along with little Baby Glass - its squirms and pokes and movements make me giggle and I am grateful for this time of bonding even before baby's arrival. Our future is unfolding perhaps a little faster than we anticipated, but we're loving every adventurous minute of it.
