it's been a nice reprieve from the heat but.... itching to be a little sweaty again
Olive Lou | newborn in newport
This was my first time documenting a pregnancy all the way through and it was so neat to watch Ashley physically and emotionally prepare for this baby's arrival. (You can see the first, second, third and fourth maternity sessions with mama Ashley Wilcox.) We shot all of the sessions in film and played with light, setting, pools; but nothing was as wonderful as finally documenting this sweet little one in the flesh. Olive Lou is hands down the smiliest human being I have ever met and already spreads so much joy to all who meet her. I know she's gonna do great things and love her people deeply.

ceramicist linda hsiao of Knotwork LA
I first met this fine lady when Ashley and I were shopping out STUDY to a few of our favorite shops in 2014. It was evident in our first conversation that Linda is passionate about the creative community in this big city and eager to share her experience and resources with those around her. Quite the talent herself, Linda and her partner Kagan Taylor make up Knotwork LA, a collective offering fine handmade wooden and ceramic goods "made in their spare time." Linda's pieces are of the highest quality and some of the most unique ceramics I've come across in a while. She's got such a dreamy set up in her back yard - one smaller production space sits just across the way from a larger structure that she uses for drying and sorting. Her style is spot on and her home so warm and welcoming. Photographing creative folks in their space is one of my favorite jobs and this light-filled lush environment made it such a dream.
